Director's Biographies

Tom Cowgill (Executive Director)

Tom is a former corporate lawyer and an accomplished amateur golfer. Tom founded SMI with former European Tour professional, Jeremy Robinson to promote and stage large-scale amateur and professional golf events. Tom has been responsible for the successful promotion of events such as the Pro-Am (featured on Sky TV), the Computacenter English Challenge Open on the European Challenge Tour, the Bendinat London Seniors Masters on the European Seniors Tour and the Sir Ian Botham Charity Golf Series.

Jeremy Robinson (Director)

Jeremy is a former Walker Cup player and established member of the European Tour. Jeremy is co-founder of SMI with Tom Cowgill. Jeremy also adds considerable expertise to SMI's events business through his close relationship with the European Tour, his contacts with current and former Tour Pros and Ryder Cup players and his intimate knowledge of the operation of golf tournaments.

Ian Lancaster (Commercial Director)

Ian started with SMI in 2006, having previously worked as the Hospitality and Events Manager at Saracens Rugby Club and the Business Development Manager at Sportingclass Ltd, the Official Hospitality supplier to the RFU. Ian has a wealth of experience in the hospitality and event management business. His commercial experience and creativity are invaluable to SMI's clients in helping them to achieve the 'wow' factor when it comes to staging and promoting their events. Ian has largely been responsible for the successful launch of the 'Rewads4Golf' loyalty programme which SMI has pioneered with leading golf marketing company, The JRW Group.
